Nkporo Table Tennis Competition
The inaugural Nkporo Table Tennis Competition took place on January 2nd and 3rd at the Ugwujimba Hall, bringing together sports enthusiasts from the Nkporo community. The event was sponsored by Mr Ama Okocha Ufere and meticulously planned by Mr. Suleiman Onwuka and Mr. Ikechukwu Otu. Ama Okocha Ufere expressed that the vision behind the tournament was to encourage active participation from Nkporo.
First Edition of Nkporo Table Tennis Competition: A Success in Sports and Community Engagement
The inaugural Nkporo Table Tennis Competition took place on January 2nd and 3rd at the Ugwujimba Hall, bringing together sports enthusiasts from the Nkporo community. The event was sponsored by Mr Ama Okocha Ufere and meticulously planned by Mr. Suleiman Onwuka and Mr. Ikechukwu Otu.
Mr Ama Okocha Ufere expressed that the vision behind the tournament was to encourage active participation from Nkporo indigenes during the festive season. “Our aim is to foster community spirit and showcase local talent in table tennis. This is just the beginning; we hope to expand these initiatives to include other sports in the future,” he stated.
While participants enjoyed the competition, there were some concerns regarding the lack of publicity for the event, which affected overall attendance. In response to these issues, Mr Ufere promised that for the 2025/2026 tournament, publicity efforts would commence much earlier to potentially enhance participation.
The competition featured initial groupings to determine the top contenders. The groups were as follows:

Mr. James Akuma
Ucha Ama Sunday (The only female player)
Mr. Friday Abraham

Mr. Kelly Steve Kalu
Group D
Mr. Paul Ude Mba

The tournament culminated in exciting matches, showcasing the skill and determination of the players. The standout performers were recognized as follows:
1. 1st Place: Captain Paul Ude Mba - ₦150,000
2. 2nd Place: Ogbonnaya Iroha - ₦100,000
3. 3rd Place: Kelly Steve Kalu - ₦50,000
Winners were awarded cash prizes which were transferred immediately to their various accounts, further igniting the competitive spirit among participants.
As the excitement from the tournament fades, the hope for future events grows. The success of the first Nkporo Table Tennis Competition has set a strong foundation, encouraging organizers and sponsors to enhance community engagement through sports. With promises of earlier promotion and possibly the introduction of additional sports, the next tournament could see even greater participation and enthusiasm.
