HRH, EZE (DR.) OJI UKA OJI
Dr. Oji Uka Oji's compassionate appeal to Nkporo people led him to establish "Uluo Ogwu E Doctor Oji," which translates to Doctor Oji's Hospital, in 1986 at Nkporo. Over the years, this hospital has not only been the foremost private healthcare facility in Nkporo, alongside one or two other government health centers until the second decade of the twenty-first century when other health centers were built, including the recent Nkporo cottage hospital, it remains the only private hospital in Nkporo. The people's predominantly farmer lifestyle and strenuous physical labor have resulted in a hick prevalence of hernia cases among the population. Hernias occur when an organ pushes through the muscle or tissue that normally holds it in place, often due to continuous bending and lifting of heavy loads.
Despite the challenging circumstances of lack of power supply, and high patronage often with low financial backup, Dr. Oji has been dedicated to providing healthcare services and performing surgical operations for hernias without charging exorbitant fees. In some cases, he even performs surgeries without requiring an initial deposit from patients, emphasizing his commitment to saving lives and serving Nde-Nkporo selflessly. Additionally, Dr. Oji and his wife, Chief (Dr.) Mrs. Chinyere Oji, have demonstrated their compassion by adopting a young girl named Peace. Peace's mother had fled the hospital after being unable to pay for her delivery fee at Doctor Oji's Hospital. Thanks to the generosity of Dr. Oji and his wife, Peace is now on the brink of completing her university education, highlighting the positive impact of their kindness and support on individuals beyond medical care. Dr. Oji Uka OJI's dedication to providing affordable healthcare services to Nde-Nkporo exemplifies his profound commitment to community well-being and compassion-driven healthcare practices.
