HIS ROYAL MAJESTY EZE ELDER OGBU ARUNSI, THE EZEAJA OF NKPORO ANCIENT KINGDOM.
BIRTH: His Royal Majesty, Eze Elder Ogbu Arunsi, the Ezeaja of Nkporo Ancient Kingdom was born in 1919 into the Royal Dynasty of Chief Arunsi Oguama of Ndioka compound in Agbalangwu of Elughu Nkporo. He was the first son of his parents, Mr. Arunsi Oguama and Mrs Oma Arunsi both of blessed memory.
EDUCATION: Eze Ogbu Arunsi was a renowned Educationist. Early in life, to achieve his educational pursuits, he solicited for the help of his uncle and grandmother, Kalu Ogbuagu and Ukoji Ogbuagu respectively, who were at that time great farmers. They used their farm produce to pay his school fees and care for his other needs. Ezeaja attended Nkporo central school, and church of Scotland Mission School Abiriba for his primay school education, and boys vocational school, Ididep for a Diploma in teaching. Later he studied in the famous Hope Waddell Training Institute Calabar and Macgregor College, Afikpo where he obtained the Teachers Grade Il and Il Certificates. He also got GCE O/L and A/L Certificates and became well equipped for his teaching career. He started as a classroom teacher in 1946 when he was 27 years old. And then went through the range up to Headmaster, special class. He served the Presbyterian church of Nigeria in various schools of class Teacher and an Administrative Headmaster for thirty eight years. The Schools in which he worked included Nkporo Central School, C.S.M School Bawop, Ogoja, C.S.M School Abakaliki, Presbyterian School Eziafor Ohafia, Etitiama Community School, Community Schools in Nkporo, Atan Abam, and Elughu Community School Nkporo where he retired meritoriously in 1984.
HIS PERSONALITY: His Royal Majesty Eze O. Arunsi was the most humble of men. He was humane exemplified and made himself available to the beggar as he would to his contemporaries. He listening ear for all those who sort his audience. He loved humanity and showed love, care attention on anyone that came into contact with him. He loved his neighbors and strangers alike was a friend to all people
RELATIONSHIP WITH THE COMMUNITY/SOCIAL SERVICES: Ezeaja loved and served his community to the best of his ability. He fought for the right of his community and hated cheating and oppression. H stood for the oppressed and truth. Ezeaja was full of wisdom, kind-hearted, soft spoken, and understanding. He made a mark that cannot be erased. He was among the few that master-minded the founding of Nkporo Secondary School and Elughu Commercial Secondary School. Eze Ogbu Arunsi spent most of his life serving and teaching humanity. He was known for contributing to the peace and tranquility for his community.
He represented Nkporo Community in Owuwa Anyanwu County Council from 1962 to 1965. He served as a councillor representing Nkporo repeatedly, and as the Secretary of the defunct Nkporo Litrate Youths Association, one time Secretary of Nkporo Improvement Union, and Elughu Welfare Union, one time Secretary of Nkporo Local Council, one time Vice Chairman Nkporo Community Council, one time Vice Chairman of Ohafia L.G.A. Traditional Rulers Council, member Abia Ste Traditional Rulers Council for 16 years, the then immediate past chairman of Nkporo Traditional Ruler council, one of the founding fathers of Nkporo Civic Centre. No doubt his election and subsequence installation as the Traditional Rulers and Ezeaja of Nkporo Ancient Kingdom in 1988 was unanimous And no doubt that when he was presented for the stool of the Ezeaja of Nkporo the Imo State Government did not hesitate to accord him recognition. He was committed to the unity and progress of Nkporo and stood out for truth and justice.
RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD: H.R.M. Eze Elder Ogbu Arunsi was a God fearing man. He loved God and believed totally in Him. He would not miss church service for anything. He was a well known choirmaster. He could sing more than half of the Igbo Hymns and Hymns in R.C.H and Harcourt-White off-hand. Infact, he loved to sing to God. The most important part of his worshipping his God was singing praises. He was a good recorder. He taught the church how to keep accurate account.
